Missile Launch Over Los Angeles Raises Questions

A missile was seen from Los Angeles flying above the Pacific Ocean, but the U.S. military says there's no cause for alarm. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

A spectacular sight as a missile roars across the southern California sky.

It happened at sunset Monday in the Pacific Ocean, and the trail of the missile could be seen from Los Angeles.

So, who was responsible? Fear not, the U.S. military says America is not under attack.

"We can confirm that there is no threat to our nation. This was not a launch by a foreign military."  (Source: NORAD)

One report says it may have been an accidental missle launch, possibly from a U.S. Submarine.

Retired U.S. Air Force missile launch officer John Noonan told INSIDE EDITION, "It seems to have caught the military completely off guard, and that's very strange and very unusual, particulary for a group that's charged with defending the U.S. homeland."
