That's what John Edwards is saying about the jaw-dropping report that he asked his former mistress Rielle Hunter to marry him.
The National Enquirer, which first broke the story of Edwards's love child with Hunter, is now claiming that the former presidential candidate popped the question to her over Christmas, just three weeks after the death of his estranged wife Elizabeth Edwards.
The Enquirer also claims that Edwards and Hunter introduced their 2-year-old love child, Francis Quinn, to Edwards's children with Elizabeth, Jack and Emma Claire. Hunter is said to have told the young children to "Call me mommy," according to The Enquirer.
The purported engagement is making headlines. The New York Post calls it an "Indecent proposal."
But a spokesman for Edwards says there are no wedding bells in his immediate future.
"I can tell you that it's not true," Edwards was quoted as saying.
The engagement reports come just days after INSIDE EDITION revealed the contents of Elizabeth Edwards's will. Edwards was left nothing and wasn't mentioned once. Elizabeth's estimated $1.5 million estate was left to her three children.
In January 2010, it was confirmed that the baby was Edwards's.
