As Cruz refused to endorse Trump, the GOP presidential nominee sat down next to his daughter, Ivanka, and whispered something in her ear.

Lip reader Larry Wenig told Inside Edition that Trump said: "Do you think I make a mistake?" It was an apparent reference to letting Cruz speak at the convention in the first place.

During his speech inside Quicken Loans Arena, Cruz urged people to "vote your conscience," failing to endorse Trump or even mention him by name.

He was met with a chorus of jeers and boos. The audience chanted: “Endorse Trump! Endorse Trump!”

Cruz's wife Heidi had to be escorted out by security as an angry crowd of Trump supporters taunted her following the speech.
