Obama Slams Trump's View of America in Rousing DNC Speech: 'America Is Already Great'

'I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump,' the president said.

In his final Democratic National Convention appearance as a commander-in-chief, President Obama did not hold back as he took Donald Trump to task in Philadelphia.

Inside the Wells Fargo Center, Obama let the jabs fly as he slammed the GOP presidential candidate’s rhetoric, policies and campaign.

“America is already great. America is already strong,” Obama said. “And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump.”

The president spoke for nearly an hour as he delivered blow after blow against Trump.

“The Donald is not really a plans guy. He’s not really a facts guy, either,” Obama said. “He calls himself a business guy, which is true, but I have to say, I know plenty of businessmen and women who’ve achieved remarkable success without leaving a trail of lawsuits, and unpaid workers, and people feeling like they got cheated.”

Trump countered on Twitter saying: “Our country does not feel ‘great already.’”

Our country does not feel 'great already' to the millions of wonderful people living in poverty, violence and despair.

The president discussed the values of America and implied that the rhetoric of the Trump campaign is unnecessary.

“That’s why anyone who threatens our values, whether fascists or communists or jihadists or homegrown demagogues, will always fail in the end,” he said.

Obama’s speech Wednesday night came 12 years to the day after he was thrust on the national platform and spoke at the 2004 DNC in Boston. It was at that speech where he looked to see a unified America and not one made of “red states and blue states.”

America’s 44th president also made the case for the person he wants as his successor – Hillary Clinton.

“There has never been a man or a woman – not me, not Bill, nobody – more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of America,” he told the crowd.

He added: “While this nation has been tested by war and recession and all manner of challenges, I stand before you again tonight, after almost two terms as your president, to tell you I am more optimistic about the future of America than ever before.”

At the conclusion of his rousing speech, Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed Delivered, I’m Yours,” played in the massive arena. It's the same song he used at the end of his speeches while he was campaigning for office.

As he walked across the stage and waved to the crowd cheering him on, Hillary Clinton came out to surprise her party. The former secretary of state and president embraced and thanked each other for their support.

Obama was seen whispering in her ear: "You're doing great. I'm so proud of you."

The president was not the only person to verbally take down Trump Wednesday.

Another New York billionaire, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg, made it clear that he was not aligning himself with the Democratic party, spoke as an independent against the GOP candidate.

“Trump says he wants to run the nation like he's running his business? God help us!” Bloomberg said. “I'm a New Yorker and I know a con when I see one!”

Bloomberg raged against the Trump machine, even questioning the real estate tycoon’s sanity.

“Let’s elect a sane competent person with international experience,” he said as he endorsed Hillary Clinton.

Bloomberg admitted that there were times when he and Clinton disagreed, but he is going to put aside the differences for “the good of the country” as he called Trump a “dangerous demagogue.”

The former mayor even unleashed against Trump’s success.

"We've heard a lot of talk in this campaign about needing a leader who understands business. I couldn't agree more. I've built a business, and I didn't start it with a million-dollar check from my father," he said.

Bloomberg, who became the leader of the Big Apple months after the 9/11 attacks, worked with then-New York Senator Hillary Clinton to rebuild the city.

"I saw how Hillary Clinton worked with Republicans in Washington to ensure that New York got the help it needed to recover and rebuild," he said. "Throughout her time in the Senate, we didn't always agree — but Hillary Clinton always listened. And that's the kind of approach we need in Washington today, and it just has to start in the White House."

Before the president spoke, Clinton’s vice presidential pick Tim Kaine addressed the DNC for the very first time.

The Virginia governor said: “Hillary has a passion for kids and families... Donald Trump has a passion too: It's himself.”

Kaine even broke out into a Trump impression during his speech, repeating the words he has heard from the New York billionaire’s campaign for the last year – “believe me.”

"We're gonna destroy ISIS so fast — believe me! There's nothing suspicious in my tax returns — believe me," he mocked.

Kaine added: Here's the thing. Most people, when they run for president, they don't just say 'believe me.' They respect you enough to tell you how they will get things done... You cannot believe one word that comes out of Donald Trump's mouth.”
