With the start of the school year around the corner, there's a stress-free way to get kids ready for class.

A recent survey has found that parents will spend an average of $273 for each of their kids — but now a must-have app can help you get the best back-to-school deals.

Parents can check out RetailMeNot.com or download the site's free app to save on back-to-school items. It uses GPS technology to alert shoppers to deals when they're out and about so they never miss a discount.

RetailMeNot’s Shopping and Trends expert, Sara Skirboll, showed one mother, Jeanine, and her daughter how to find incredible deals with the app.

They spotted deals at Old Navy and Target.

Among the other deals on offer, JC Penney has $10 off when you spend $50 or more on kids clothing and accessories. Stores like Macy's also have sales on back-to-school wardrobe essentials, and Staples is offering 25 percent off school supplies when you buy a backpack before August 13.

And for parents looking to buy electronics such as laptops or tablets for their kids, Best Buy has up to 30 percent off some of its products.
