The same son was cooking chicken strips when the kitchen fire ignited.
The Baltimore mother who made national headlines after she went ballistic on her teenage son during last year’s riots is now homeless after a kitchen fire he accidentally started.

Toya Graham, who was called “Mom of the Year” by Oprah for refusing to let her son, Michael, get caught up in the melee that hit the city, has had her world turned upside down after her kitchen caught fire.
“I am at a loss for words,” she told Inside Edition. Her landlord, who she describes as "awesome," put in a new kitchen for the family earlier in the year.
Michael, 17, was home for the weekend from a job corps program and accidently caused the kitchen to catch fire Saturday when he was cooking chicken strips.
"The whole kitchen needs to be redone," she said. "It was horrible."
Toya was working and wasn't home at the time of the blaze. She was doing a double shift that afternoon after she received word of the fire from her daughter.
The apartment has been destroyed. She and the seven people living in her home are currently staying in a hotel. While the mother is not angry at her son, the single mom is tired of struggling.
"I am not coming down hard on my son because I could have lost my son," she said. "He knocked on the neighbor's door to tell them to get out of the house."

Because she did not have renter's insurance, they have to start from scratch.
"It is a lot to take in when you are at work trying to keep a roof over your heard to come home to this," she said. "I am devastated. Can you imagine? I have to still work."
The family is waiting for their landlord to get approval from a contractor to fix the house and allow them to move back in.
