One More Time! Britney Spears Lands in NYC for Return to the VMA Stage
Britney Spears and her father have landed at Newark Liberty Airport ahead of her much anticipated return to the MTV VMA stage Sunday.
On Thursday, she scooted past cameras and climbed into an SUV, heading to Manhattan to rehearse for the show at Madison Square Garden.
The singer’s last appearance 9 years ago was widely panned as a disaster. Her return to the VMAs has been seen as an opportunity to redeem herself.
Also appearing at the blockbuster event are America’s Olympic sweethearts — The Final Five. So will Michael Phelps.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West will sit on the front row. West has been given four minutes by the show’s producers to do whatever he wants, which may lead to some issues with fellow entertainer Taylor Swift.
In fact, the "Bad Blood" singer may not show up.
Rihanna will be honored at the event with the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award for her ingenuity in music videos. In the past, the honor has been given to Jackson, West, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, R.E.M., U2 and The Beastie Boys.
The “Umbrella” singer will also perform at the event.
