There's growing outrage over a concert pianist's performance at a White House state dinner in honor of China's president.
Turns out the music he chose to play is a notorious anti-American propaganda song.
It's called My Motherland, and it's from an anti-American movie made in China and set in the Korean war. The lyrics refer to American troops as wolves, and jackals.
The incident is causing a sensation in China where one blogger remarked, "Those American folks very much enjoyed it. The U.S. is truly stupid!!"
28-year-old pianist Lang Lang, who was born in China but lives in New York, boasts about playing the song on his website, writing, "I was telling them about the power of China and the unity of the Chinese."
No comment from the White House.
The sour note contrasts sharply with a just-released official photo showing 9-year-old Sasha, who is learning Chinese in school, greeting President Hu in Chinese.
President Hu returned to China over the weekend, calling his visit to the U.S. a success.
