Friends of a Pennsylvania man overdosing on heroin allegedly strangled him before dumping his body that they dressed up in a hat and sunglasses, authorities said.
When Joshua Rose, 21, apparently overdosed on heroin at a Scranton home August 25, the trio he was with decided not to seek medical attention, passing at least one hospital as they drove north on I-81, police said.
Instead, a plastic bag was allegedly placed over Rose’s head and he was strangled with jumper cables, according to officials.
“Bottom line, they drove right past a hospital and continued north on I-81,” Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Mark Prushinski said, according to WNEP-TV. “At this time, we are not sure why they did that.”
One of the members of the group dressed up Rose’s body in sunglasses and a hat before they stopped for gasoline on their way to an embankment, authorities allege.
Once they arrived at the embankment in the Hop Bottom area of Susquehanna County, they allegedly dumped Rose’s body, which was later found near railroad tracks.

Preston Layfield, 19, Tyler Mirabelli, 22, and Amanda Wayda, 20, were hit with aggravated assault and conspiracy charges in connection to Rose’s death.
Charges may change depending on the findings of an autopsy by the Susquehanna County coroner’s office.
Layfield, Mirabelli and Wayda are scheduled for preliminary hearings on September 7.
