600 Marijuana Plants Discovered Growing Behind Connecticut Day Care: Cops (West Haven PD)

Police in a coastal Connecticut town have reportedly found 600 marijuana plants at a day care center.

Where there should have been a playground, West Haven Police say there was a forest of six- to 10-foot plants.

Police officers observed a newly erected wooden fence that housed the plants, according to a police statement.

The plants were discovered by state inspectors conducting a compliance inspection, West Haven Police said Sunday.

Officers from the city's street crime unit then arrived and continued with the investigation by executing search warrants of the property.

The day care facility was subsequently shut down by the West Haven City Housing inspectors and their license has been revoked.

No suspects have been named by police, nor did their statement include the name of the day care facility.

However, police said Sunday that "arrests are forthcoming."
