The New Mexico girl, whose brutal rape and murder made national headlines in recent weeks, endured multiple sexual assaults leading up to her death because her mother "enjoyed it," according to police.
Michelle Martens reportedly told authorities she personally sought out men to abuse her 10-year-old daughter Victoria before the girl's grisly death on August 24.
In search warrants obtained by Albuquerque police, Michelle Martens allegedly told investigators she enjoyed watching men rape her daughter and had set up encounters with at least three men.
"Michelle said ‘yeah’ when asked if she would agree with them over the internet or over the phone that they would come over and have sex with her children," an investigator wrote in documents obtained by the Albuquerque Journal.
Martens told police she used the dating website Plenty of Fish to find men to rape her daughter, according to the documents. Police said men may have also raped Martens' other daughter, as well.
Victoria's nightmare ended August 23 when cops say she was given methamphetamine, raped, choked and stabbed to death before her dismembered remains were set on fire.
Michelle Martens, 35, allegedly stood by as Fabian Gonzales, 31, and his cousin Jessica Kelley, 31, injected the child with meth “to calm her down” so they could both sexually assault her, according to a criminal complaint.
After the pair assaulted Victoria, Gonzales allegedly strangled her and Kelley stabbed her, the criminal complaint said.
The pair then allegedly dismembered the child’s body.
Officers with the Albuquerque Police Department found her burning remains half-wrapped in a blanket in the bathtub of Martens’ apartment.
Other parts of Victoria’s body were left in a plastic bag in a laundry hamper. Her bedroom floor was stained with blood.
Since police discovered the gruesome scene, the Albuquerque community has rallied to celebrate Victoria's life.
She was killed on what was supposed to be the day of her 10th birthday celebration. To give her the party she never got, thousands attended an event dubbed Princess Victoria's Heavenly Birthday and brought stuffed animals that were later given to her classmates.
