Jolie cited irreconcilable differences in documents filed Monday.

The 41-year-old actress is asking for physical custody of their six kids.

Jolie is not asking for spousal support, according to the filing in Los Angeles Superior Court.

However, Jolie does not want Pitt to have any physical custody of his kids, only legal custody. TMZ reports a source said Jolie "was extremely upset with his methods" of parenting.

"Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage," Jolie's rep Robert Offer in a statement Tuesday. "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time."

Pitt's camp also released a statement on the actor's behalf.

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," he said in the statement obtained by People. "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Meanwhile, Jolie's dad, actor Jon Voight, told INSIDE EDITION he thinks it took something big for his daughter to make this move.

"It’s very sad," the Midnight Cowboy star said Tuesday. "Something very serious must have happened for Angie to make a decision like this."

The 77-year-old said he learned the news not from Angelina, with whom his relationship has been strained at times over the years, but from his son.

“I am concerned for Angie and the children and hopefully I will be seeing them very soon," he said.
