LAPD Denies Investigation Into Brad Pitt Amid Child Abuse Allegations

Reports emerged Thursday morning that the actor was being probed but the LAPD says that's not true.

Brad Pitt is not being investigated by Los Angeles police following accusations of child abuse, the department said Thursday.

Reports emerged Thursday morning that the actor was being probed after he allegedly became abusive with one of his children in front of estranged wife Angelina Jolie and some of their other kids.

The family was in their private plane on a tarmac at about 8 p.m. last Wednesday when Pitt allegedly lost it, screaming and getting physical with one of his six children with Jolie, TMZ first reported.

According to reports, an investigation was launched after an anonymous tipster alerted authorities to the incident, during which Pitt was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

But later Thursday, the LAPD denied it is investigating the reported accusations against Pitt, saying in a statement to KTLA on Thursday: "The abuse child unit with LAPD has no open investigation on Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie."

Pitt reportedly did not return to the family’s Los Angeles home after the incident, an apparently common course of action for the actor, who allegedly often spent nights at a hotel after arguing with his wife.

“He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children,” a source close to Pitt told TMZ. “It’s unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light.”

Jolie separated from Pitt a day after the alleged incident and filed for divorce days later, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple were married for two years and have been together for 12.

Jolie has requested sole physical custody of Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

“This decision was made for the health of the family,” Jolie said of the divorce in a statement released by her attorney.

In a separate statement, Pitt said of the divorce: “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
