Hero Mom Dies in Hit-and-Run After Pushing Daughter From Path Of Oncoming Car

A Connecticut mom sacrificed her life to save her little girl when they were struck by a hit-and-run driver, authorities said.

Dania Cegeno-Delrosario, 40, and her 7-year-old daughter, Denisse, were crossing a street in the town of Meriden on Friday night when they were struck, according to police.

According to her family, Cegeno-Delrosario shoved her daughter out of the way at the crucial moment.

"It pushed both of us and it pushed her very hard," Denisse told WFSB about the car's impact. Her mother acted "so I wouldn't get hurt," the child said.

Cedeno-Delrosario was discovered under a Jeep after police say the motorist who struck her drove away.

She was flown to Hartford Hospital with serious head and chest injuries. Medical personel were unable to save her.

Denisse was hospitalized with minor injuries.
