After Trump's First-Ever Trip to the White House, Obama Says They Had an 'Excellent Conversation'

The 44th president and the president-elect had their first meeting since the historic election on Thursday morning.

In a meeting meant to calm anxieties surrounding the transition of power, America's reality TV star turned future president and the current top leader met for the first time since Tuesday's historic election.

Donald Trump flew to Washington on his personal jumbo jet for the meeting, which began at 11 a.m. and was expected to include a discussion in which President Obama would go through policies he has implemented that he hopes Trump won't undo.

Meanwhile, as is tradition, first lady Michelle Obama and future first lady Melania Trump met to take a tour of the White House.

They were expected to follow tradition and have tea in the private quarters of the White House, though no cameras were allowed to follow along.

Going somewhat against tradition, however, was President Obama's decision to cancel a photo op with the two couples that was scheduled to take place on the White House lawn.

The Obamas posed for one such photo alongside George and Laura Bush in 2008. No reason was given for the cancelation.

But as the meeting came to a close and cameras were allowed to be turned on in the Oval Office, Obama and Trump faced the media.

"I just had the opportunity to have an excellent conversation with President-Elect Trump," the president told reporters. "It was wide-ranging," Obama said, and covered organizational issues, foreign policy and domestic policy.

"As I said last night, my number one priority in the next two months is try to facilitate a transition that ensures our president-elect is successful," Obama said, "because if you succeed, America succeeds."

But was their interaction as genuine as it seemed? To find out, Inside Edition turned to body language expert Tonya Reiman.

She said that the proof is in how they looked at each other — or, in this case, how they didn't.

"Neither one of them really makes eye contact," Reiman said. "So you'll notice that Trump is looking down and Obama's looking down. So they give that mutual respect of a handshake but they don't give the mutual respect of the eye contact. And the eye contact is way more important."

She added: "These two are very uncomfortable around each other. You can tell by Trump's stance, how he sits."

Interestingly, it was Trump's first-ever visit to the White House, and his first time meeting Obama.

Trump said their meeting was originally meant to last just 15 minutes. "We were just going to get to know each other, we had never met each other. It lasted for an hour and a half, and it could have gone a lot longer."

Trump said he plans to work with Obama and his team going forward and, "I very much look forward to dealing with the president in the future."

"Mr. President, it was a great honor to meet with you," Trump said.

As their meeting came to a close, Trump called Obama "a very good man."
