Couple Arrested For Allegedly Beating and Robbing Former 'Deadliest Catch' Star Jake Harris
Jake Harris, a former star of the reality TV series Deadliest Catch, was savagely beaten by a couple that he had entrusted to give him a ride home over the weekend, according to his brother.
Jake Harris’ brother, Josh Harris, took to Facebook to talk about the attack and identify people who he said left Jake in the intensive care unit with a cracked skull.
Police arrested the two alleged culprits Amanda Ritter, 30, and Jorel Fultz, 29, on suspicion of robbery. on Tuesday.
Josh, who captains the Cornelia Marie, said Jake had gotten a ride home from a couple who had been at the Quil Ceda Creek Casino near Marysville in Washington state.
"I have some terrible news today. My brother was jumped last night and some individuals decided to beat him pretty good. I’ve located these people," Josh said in a video he posted to Facebook.
Josh showed Ritter's and Fultz's Facebook profiles on the video to identify them before police arrested the couple in connection with the robbery.
Josh also accused them of tossing Jake out of the moving vehicle on the highway and said the pair have committed similar crimes in the past.
“My brother is bleeding out of his brain currently," he added. “They threw him on the side of the freeway and left him for dead. He’s got some brain damage. Luckily the people who were behind the vehicle that he got thrown out off ended up seeing my brother and called 911.”
Police confirmed to InsideEdition.com that Jake was assaulted Saturday evening and they responded to the call on the Mukilteo Speedway at about 8 p.m.
Police said he was alert and awake when they found him and confirmed he was put into the ICU.
“We are working with the victim and with the family trying to find out what happened. It is a robbery investigation,” said Aaron Snell, the Everett Police Department’s public information officer.
Police initially said they didn't want to "jump the gun" by identifying any suspects, but now arrests have been made.
Josh said he hopes his brother will recover.
“He’s pretty messed up. Hopefully one day we will get him back fishing again," he said.
In 2010, Jake and Josh Harris' father, Phil Harris, the captain of the Cornelia Marie, died after suffering a massive stroke.
An episode of Deadliest Catch captured Phil Harris' last moments.
"We wish him the best with his recovery," a Discovery spokesperson told insideedition.com
