Elf on the Shelf Declares Prank War On Two Dogs

Playing Elf on the Shelf Declares Prank War On Two Dogs

No one escapes the crazy antics of the Elf on the Shelf, not even Ricochet the surfing service dog and his partner in crime, Rina.

The two golden retriever best friends were featured in photos posted to Facebook having a full-blown prank war with their sly Elf on the Shelf.

In one picture, Ricochet could be seen putting the Elf in a paper shredder. In another, Rina could be seen with a bald spot on her back, seemingly to the wiles of the elf. Both Ricochet and Rina appear to have fallen for the elf's prank in another photo, where both pups are seen covered in spaghetti.

"My dogs were so keen on getting into character, dressing up, and putting forth a good fight with the elf," their owner Judy Fridono told InsideEdition.com. "It just became a Christmas tradition."

Fridono said the prank wars started as a way for her to have a little fun around the holidays after her mom passed away on Christmas Eve many years ago.

This year's prank wars, she said, were a tribute to Rina, who was 13 years old when she passed away this Memorial Day from pneumonia. The pictures of Rina and Ricochet side-by-side were taken last year, and posted again earlier this month to kickstart this year's Elf on the Shelf debut.

Taking Rina's place in the prank wars this year is Encore, a new puppy that joined Fridono's family in November.

Over the weekend, Ricochet was even "wrapped" up and held for $10,000 ransom, as a way to encourage supporters to donate to the organization's surfing program, Waves of Empowerment, where kids with special needs, veterans with PTSD or people with disabilities are able to ride the waves with Ricochet.

Fridono said they have reached half their goal, and are asking supporters to donate to the cause on Ricochet's website or by mail at:
