Police Release Grandmother's Frantic 911 Calls After Grandson, 3, Was Killed in Road Rage Shooting

The grandmother reportedly didn't know the boy had been shot until she pulled into a J.C. Penney parking lot.

Police have released a devastating 911 call made in the aftermath of a 3-year-old boy's death in a road rage shooting that occurred while he was out shopping with his grandmother in Arkansas.

“My [grandson’s] been shot!” his grandma, Kim King-Macon can be heard screaming in the background of the 911 recording. She tells police the boy had been shot in the neck.

King-Macon and her grandson, Acen King, were on their way to J.C. Penney when another driver was reportedly angered that the boy’s grandmother "wasn’t moving fast enough at a stop light," so he allegedly stepped out of his Chevrolet Impala and fired one shot, killing the toddler.

However, King-Macon didn’t appear to realize her grandson had been shot until she arrived at the J.C. Penney location and was taking the toddler out of the car, according to the 911 call.

The J.C. Penney was reportedly 10 miles away.

"I was at the stop sign and the guy blew the horn at me and I blew it back, and he shot but I thought he shot in air, but he shot at the car," King-Macon can be heard saying on the call.

King-Macon reportedly tried giving the boy CPR in the parking lot, but he later died at the hospital.

The shooter is still at large and Little Rock police initially announced they were offering $20,000 for information leading to an arrest, to which the FBI office in Little Rock added $20,000 more.

Both King-Macon and another 1-year-old who was in the car at the time of the shooting were unharmed.

Local pastors also asked the community to speak up if they know anything about the shooting.

“If you don’t say nothing, you’re just as guilty as the person that did it,” Pastor Terrence Long said. “If you’ve seen this black Impala in your neighborhood [or] at a neighbor’s house, let someone know.”

A vigil is being held for Acen on Wednesday evening.
