Playing Accused Cop Killer Markeith Loyd Yells 'F*** You!' at Judge, Will Represent Himself

The man accused of killing an Orlando police officer and his pregnant girlfriend said he plans to represent himself at trial, but not without some choice words for the judge.

"Y'all portraying this s--t to the news people like I just went there and shot this girl when there were other guns found on the scene," Markeith Loyd told the judge in an unruly first court appearance Thursday.

"A gun was pulled on me first, but y'all acting like I just went there and shot her," he said before he was ordered held without bail on charges he murdered his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

As he was led from the courtroom, flanked by two officers, Loyd yelled "f*** you!" to the judge.

Members of Loyd's family were present at the hearing, but did not speak to reporters.

Loyd, 41, was arrested Tuesday after a 9-day manhunt. He was apprehended while wearing body armor and carrying two handguns, authorities said during a press conference Tuesday.

"We've got him!" the Orlando Police Department declared on its Twitter account.

Police Chief John Mina told reporters that dozens of officers swarmed the home after learning Tuesday afternoon that Loyd might be visiting the dwelling in the evening.

Loyd initially tried to escape through a back sliding glass door, but eventually exited the front of house and threw down his guns when confronted by police, Mina said.

No shots were fired.

Loyd has been wanted since December 13, when officers say he shot and killed his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon, 24, and injured her brother as he tried to help.

He allegedly shot and killed Orlando Police Lt. Debra Clayton on January 9, when she tried to take him into custody, Mina said.

Clayton’s handcuffs were placed on Loyd’s wrists during his arrest, a department tradition that “goes back many years,” Mina said.

"To put her handcuffs on the bad guy... is meaningful to her family and to her law enforcement family," the chief said.
