Sitting in the audience were such international stars as Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell. They seem to know right away that something is wrong as the man took the stage.

Two comedians were behind the stunt that proved incredibly embarrassing to the Goldene Kamera Awards, which The Hollywood Reporter calls "arguably Germany’s most prestigious media award."

The two comics, Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, found a Munich-based cook named Ludwig Lehner to impersonate Gosling.

The hoax comes on the heels of the Oscars blunder heard 'round the world, when La La Land was mistakenly given the Best Picture award instead of Moonlight.

Lehner was in character at his hotel room right before the awards show, with an entourage befitting an A-list Hollywood star.

The pranksters and their team watched the awards ceremony live on TV to see if they could actually get away with it, and cheered when he won.

In his acceptance speech, the fake Gosling thanked the two pranksters and rushed off the stage as fast as he could.

"I dedicate this award to Joko and Klass, thank you very much. There is a saying in Hamburg, which is, 'Bye bye!'”
