Samantha Bee Apologizes After Ridiculing Cancer Patient for 'Nazi Hair'

The former "Daily Show" correspondent faced swift backlash on social media.

TV comedian Samantha Bee has issued an apologizing for unwittingly mocking a man suffering from terminal brain cancer.

The embarrassing blunder happened on her hit TBS show, Full Frontal, when she was spoofing the Conservative Political Action Conference held two weeks ago in Washington, D.C.

"This year, the bow ties were gone, replaced by Nazi hair, Nazi hair, Nazi hair..." correspondent Michael Rubens said in the skit that aired Wednesday.

The issue is, one young man's hairstyle isn't a political statement, and far from it — his hair is falling out due to radiation treatments.

Kyle Coddington, 20, has glioblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer.

"[Radiation] didn’t mess up the top at all, just around the side I lost everything," he told Inside Edition. "It’s Stage 4 brain cancer — it's terminal. There's no cure, but it's fightable."

Coddington is actually not a Republican at all, but a registered Democrat. He is a journalist on assignment at CPAC.

Bee's show learned the truth about the journalist and issued a statement.

"We deeply apologize for offending Kyle. We only learned of his condition today & have removed him from the piece," Bee posted to Twitter Thursday.

Some are blasting the apology as insincere.

"I appreciate the fact that she tweeted an apology but I wish that she had apologized to everyone that she lumped together not just me personally," Coddington said.

He also released a statement via his publication, Outset Magazine, via Twitter.

The controversy has even caught the attention of the president where he retweeted a clip from Kyle’s Fox & Friends interview.

Coddington said he blown away by all the attention, saying: "The president retweeted something I said — it was very shocking."

Contributions to a GoFundMe page, set up to help him with his medical expenses, have skyrocketed. In just the last 12 hours, more than $82,000 has been raised.

“It's just exploded,” he said. “I'm speechless. I don’t have words to say except thank you.”

Full Frontal has made a $1,000 donation to his GoFundMe account.
