Martha Stewart Angers Yankees Fans After Talking About Perfect Game, Possibly Jinxing It

Playing Martha Stewart Angers Yankees Fans After Talking About Perfect Game, Possibly Jinxing It

Among the high-profile guests at the New York Yankees' home opener in the Bronx Monday was DIY maven Martha Stewart, who may have cost the team a perfect game by breaking a cardinal rule of baseball.

The cooking and home decor guru got all worked up in the 7th inning as Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was cruising through the game without allowing a single hit by the visiting Tampa Bay Rays.

"It's top of the seventh here at Yankee Stadium and the Yankees are pitching a perfect game versus the Tampa Rays," she tweeted.

With the social media post, Stewart apparently failed to realize she was possibly jinxing the team by talking about the possibility of a perfect game while it is still in progress.

And just minutes after sending the tweet, Rays third basemen Evan Longoria hit a double, ending Pineda's perfect bid.

Naturally, irate Yankee fans took to Twitter to chastise Stewart about the premature posting.

The Rays ultimately lost 8-1, but that didn't stop them from having fun with Stewart's tweet, calling it "fake news."
