Mom, 2 Young Sons Feared Dead After Plane Vanishes in Bermuda Triangle
A New York City CEO, her two young sons and a second adult are feared dead after the plane they were flying through the Bermuda Triangle Monday mysteriously disappeared.
Jennifer Blumin, her sons, ages 3 and 4, and 52-year-old Nathan Ulrich of New Hampshire, were en route from Puerto Rico but never arrived to their destination in Central Florida.
Air traffic controllers in Miami lost radio contact with the MU-2B aircraft three hours into the flight, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Even more troubling, a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew located a debris field 15 miles east of Eleuthera, Bahamas, on Tuesday
The helicopter crew was able to lower a rescue swimmer and retrieve some of the debris to transfer ashore for identification.
"There's no indication of significant adverse weather at the time," Coast Guard spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Kelly told The Associated Press.
Blumin heads up the New York City event planning firm Skylight Group.
Nathan Ulrich is the ex-husband of Rae Dawn Chong, the daughter of "Cheech and Chong" actor Tommy Chong.
"My ex-hubby's (Nathan Ulrich) plane is missing over the Bermuda Triangle. I am sad and in shock. So send prayers to his family. Thanks." Ms. Chong posted on Twitter after the news broke.
A spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board said the agency is monitoring the case and coordinating with the Coast Guard and Civil Air Patrol.
The Customs and Border Patrol and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force are also assisting in the investigation.
