Teen Fakes Pregnancy For Class

A high school student shocked everyone when she revealed that she had been faking her pregnancy for six months as part of a bold social experiment. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

In a classic scene from movie Juno, the students stare at pregnant Juno, played by Ellen Page, as she walks through her high school.

Now it's the story of a real-life Juno, but with a shocking twist.

For six months, everybody at 17-year-old Gaby Rodriguez's high school in Washington State thought she was pregnant.

She revealed it was all fake at a school assembly.

Rodriguez gradually added cotton to a pouch she wore around her stomach. Then as the months went on, she cut a basketball in half and covered it with padding.

The only people who knew she wasn't really pregnant were her boyfriend, her mom and her high school principal, until she broke the news to her shocked classmates.

"They should be glad that I'm not pregnant," said Rodriquez.

Rodriguez is a straight-A student and her hoax was for a class called "Stereotypes, Rumors and Statistics."

She wanted to see how everyone would react to her pregnancy. A hot button issue these days, thanks to reality shows like MTV's 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom.

Now Rodriguez is being hailed for bravely confronting teen pregnancy, just like her movie counterpart did.

"Pregnant or not they're going to love me for who I am," said Rodriguez.
