Kym Herjavec was a professional dancer for 15 seasons on the hit ABC show and is now she is taking her talents out of the ballroom and into the Beverly Hills space once occupied by the larger-than-life weight-loss fanatic.

It’s now known as The Bod by Kym Herjavec.

“It goes back to Richard Simmons and what he did here," she told Inside Edition. "He helped so many people. He was so positive. And I think it lives in the space still. So I put it down to Richard Simmons."

The studio closed its doors last November and she jumped on the opportunity to keep its legacy alive. She has not heard from Simmons, but believes he is pleased with what has become of the space.

"I think that he is really happy that we kept it a fitness studio," she said. "I think that he is really happy about it."

Herjavec offers an 80s theme class and students are encouraged to dress the decade with lots of neon, leg warmers, and headbands, an apparent homage to Simmons.

“People came here to sweat and get a great workout to dance and feel good about themselves and hopefully we can continue that,” she said.

Student Lisa Donahey remembers taking classes with Simmons at the studio.

“I feel like it has been reinvented," she said after taking a class with Herjavec.
