At Least 8 Injured, Including Children, When Man Drives SUV Into Motel Pool

Witnesses said children in the pool at the time of the incident sustained minor injuries.

A California driver has been hospitalized along with eight others after crashing through a wall and into a motel pool on Sunday, police said. 

The driver of the SUV plunged into the pool of the Vagabond Inn in Los Angeles at about 7:45 p.m., according to reports.

Police told Inside Edition that the driver, who was not identified, is currently in critical condition, and it has not yet been determined whether he had drugs or alcohol in his system. Toxicology reports are pending.

Witnesses said there were many children in the pool at the time of the incident, who police said sustained minor injuries.

A witness to the crash said in a Facebook comment that she "saw three little boys carried out and into an ambulance. Two little ones were walking and the other was on a stretcher," though they appeared alert.

The manager of the Vagabond Inn, who wished to remain anonymous, described the situation to Inside Edition as a "crisis" that he is working to resolve.
