Meghan Davidson was one week away from her due date when she was struck by lightning while out for a walk.

A pregnant woman who was struck by lightning while out for a walk in her Florida neighborhood has had her baby delivered by emergency C-section, her family said.

Meghan Davidson was critically injured in the strike, but is now improving and has been moved from the intensive care unit, according to her husband.

The 26-year-old woman was struck in the head last Thursday in Fort Myers. It was a cloudy day, but neighbors said there was no rain or thunder.

Residents called 911 and rushed to help the woman, ABC News reported. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors delivered her son, Owen.

The baby’s condition has not been released. Members of Davidson’s church held a prayer vigil Sunday for the infant and his mother.

“I think it’s devastating,” congregant Linda Kelly told The Associated Press. “You just don’t understand why some tragedy happens,” she said.

The couple has two other children, ages 2 and 14 months. Meghan’s mother was watching the kids while the pregnant woman went out for a walk.
