This 100-year-old sure didn’t let his age slow him down as he celebrated his birthday while gliding down the slopes.
Luckily, there was just enough snow for his summer run.
“Everyone was so supportive and wonderful,” Jedenoff told InsideEdition.com. “It was really one of the nicest birthdays I’ve ever had.”
He first learned to ski when he was 43 years old, and has made it a point to hit the slopes every year since.
“Every year, he really kind of amazes us,” said Tim Roberts, a filmmaker at Ski Utah who has worked with him for the past five years. “We’re always a little nervous when he comes back – we don’t want anything to happen, we don’t want George to get hurt – but every year, he surprises us with how good he still skis.”
Jedenoff admits that he does not ski as well as he did in his younger years, but says, “My advice is, don’t be discouraged."
He added, “Don’t regret the fact you can’t ski as well as you could at one time. The fact that you can even ski at all and enjoy the wonderful country and fresh air, all the benefits and the pleasure of skiing, it’s worth the effort.”
He said his secret to keeping in tip-top shape is to spend 15 minutes to an hour exercising in his basement every day.
"Make it part of your daily routine, not something you’re going to do when you get around to it," Jedenoff said, joking, “You’ll never get around to it."
It's clear that Jedenoff's persistence has paid off.
“He doesn’t look like a 100-year-old," Roberts told InsideEdition.com. "He doesn’t move like your typical 100-year-old. He doesn’t talk like your typical 100-year-old."
In addition to working out, he also drives 10 miles twice a day to visit Barbara, his wife of 74 years. She has been living in a nursing home since receiving her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
“I come up every lunch and dinner and help feed her — I’m not doing anything she wouldn’t do for me,” Jedenoff said. “We’ve been very happily married and she’s been a wonderful friend and partner. The most important thing that ever happened in my life was my wife."
