Fireworks Explode Inside a Wendy's in Prank That Left Employees Terrified

Police want to find the eight to 10 young males they say are responsible for the stunt that occurred on the day after the 4th of July.

It was the day after Fourth of July, but sparks continued to fly in a Florida Wendy's when a handful of fireworks exploded in a dangerous prank that left employees extremely rattled.

The July 5 prank occurred at about 10 p.m. in Deerfield Beach, where cops say one of several suspects can be seen in newly revealed surveillance footage as he walks up to the restaurant door but doesn’t open it.

The next time the door opens, one of the suspects throws a firework inside the restaurant, close to an employee who was sitting at a table near the door.

As the band of what Broward County Sheriff's deputies say were eight to 10 suspects dashes off, red sparks fly and a Roman candle emits some ominous smoke before a larger flare scares the worker away.

Smoke fills the front of the restaurant as workers can be seen scratching their heads trying to figure out what had happened.

The firework created a roughly seven-inch hole in the base of the wall.

"This could’ve ended in some serious injury," Joy Oglesby of the Broward County Sheriff's Office told WSVN. "It could’ve ended in a fire to the establishment."

Some of the suspects were wearing T-shirts, and others were shirtless as they fled through the restaurant’s parking lot.

"We believe that they live or hang out near this Wendy’s,” Oglesby said.
