George Anthony's 2008 Comments Take on New Meaning

George Anthony took the witness stand today to testify in his daughter Casey's murder trial. INSIDE EDITION reports.

George Anthony walked stonily past his daughter as he left the witness stand today without as much as a glance.

It was a much different story when George and Cindy Anthony sat down for an interview with Boyd shortly after Casey was charged in connection with the disappearance of her daughter Caylee.

"I love my daughter unconditionally," George told INSIDE EDITION's Paul Boyd in 2008.

"Is she getting the best defense she can get at this point?" Boyd asked the Anthonys.

"I believe she's getting the best defense she can get," said George, referring to Casey's lawyer Jose Baez.

Little could he have known, three years later Baez would deliver a shocking opening statement at Casey's murder trial.

Baez told the court, "It all began when Casey was 8 years old and her father came into her room and began to touch her inappropriately."

George denied the accusation when he took the stand, but the startling accusation has turned the whole trial upside-down.

"The defense is not denying all of this strange behavior on the part of Casey Anthony, but they say it can be explained once you understand the trauma she experienced as a child," TruTV's Beth Karas tells INSIDE EDITION.

Incredibly to some, George's wife has remained at his side through everything, despite allegations that he cheated on her and abused their daughter.

In INSIDE EDITION's 2008 interview, they proclaimed their loyalty to each other.

"We have each other's back through this, no matter what. We have no rift going on," George said.

Are there family secrets in Casey's life? When you see the way they avoided looking at each other today, something George said three years seems to have new meaning:

"You believe Casey is innocent?" Boyd asked.

"I believe there's a lot more to the story than what you could even fathom," said George Anthony.
