Firefighters Turn Up the Heat in Calendar Photo Shoot: 'It Was Very Fun'

They had to try out to be featured in the calendar.

Watch out hot cops! These Georgia firefighters are turning up the heat in a new 2018 calendar.

Two firefighters from the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department decided to go for it after a resident asked them when they’d make one. Before now, the department hadn’t done a calendar since 2003.

“We took it to our fire chief and we had a meeting with him and told him we wanted to raise money for charity and motivate our fire department to get into shape,” Blaine Umbaugh, a firefighter since 2010, told InsideEdition.com.

Once they received the go-ahead, Umbaugh and fellow firefighter Phillip Herndon held tryouts to see who would make the cut for the steamy calendar.

Ninety people signed up to face with three judges, with 35 men and 1 woman securing spots on the 2018 Middle Georgia Firefighter Calendar.

“We had a blast," Umbaugh said. "We came up with all of the ideas on our own. We did a 9/11 remembrance for the month of September. We also had a guy with the smoke machine in the background to make it look like fire. We had no idea what we were doing, but it turned out great."

Featuring six packs galore, the groups posed for the calendar in front of the fire house, atop firetrucks, and even with Dalmatians.

All proceeds from the sales of the calendar will go to two charities close to the department, Jay’s Hope Foundation. a organization that helps children with cancer, and Georgia Fallen Firefighters Foundation, which offers support to spouses and families of firefighters killed in the line of duty.

The department’s Facebook page for the calendar has already begun garnering attention as they feature photos of some of the calendar’s models.

“Ladies... Ladies... Fat free eye candy. I think I will burn a big enough fire so he will save me,” one commenter wrote on a picture posted to the page.

But at the end of the day, these firefighters just want to give back.

It was very fun to do and it was a lot of work, but it’s going to be worth it to help these charities and these kids,” Herndon said.
