Anthony Weiner Resigns Amidst Hecklers

He's outta here.

Anthony Weiner finally bowed to the inevitable Thursday, resigning his Congressional seat after three weeks of lurid revelations and raunchy photos.

At a press conference Weiner said, "Today, I'm announcing my resignation from Congress. I'm here today to apologize for the personal mistakes I have made and the embarrassment that I have caused. I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife, Huma."

A heckler yelled, "Bye bye pervert" as he was resigning.

Weiner's resignation comes right after his wife, Huma Abedin, returned to the U.S. from a foreign mission with her boss, Hillary Clinton.

Weiner and his wife were spotted entering their New York apartment building Thursday. But Weiner was on his own when he left soon after to head to that fateful news conference.

"I'm on my way to make a statement right now," Weiner said the photographers.

The New York Daily News says Abedin convinced her husband he couldn't resist widespread calls to quit.

"What broke him is Huma," said a source. "She said she can't see him continuing."

Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders apparently got a heads-up from Weiner about his decision to resign. He phoned during a Congressional picnic Wednesday on the White House lawn.

"We respectfully gave him time when his wife came home for them to talk," said Pelosi.

Weiner has reportedly been discreetly looking for work . "He has no money," said one report.

"He doesn't have a law degree, he doesn't have a business degree, and it may be very hard after this for him to get other employment," said a report from CNN.

Weiner's congressional salary was $174,000. His wife makes about $150,000.

Meanwhile, the former porn star who told all about the raunchy e-mails she received from Weiner is back at work at a strip club.

At a press conference with her lawyer, Ginger Lee said, "At this point, I would like to go on with my life."

Lee is dancing two shows a night at the Pink Pony, the same club in Atlanta where Tiger Woods' one-time mistress, Joselyn James, performed.

An ad promoting Lee's appearance even brags of her role in Weinergate, still a selling point even with his resignation.
