Anti-terror Head Under Fire For Ski Trip

Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Michael Leiter is under fire for taking a ski vacation following the Christmas day terror attempt. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

A furious Greta Van Sustern adds her voice to the chorus calling for the so-called anti-terror ski bum to resign.

"If he wants to do security, maybe the guy should get a job doing ski patrol," said Van Sustern.

"He should resign! This guy has a 24/7 job, if he doesn't want it, get out," says Van Sustern.

But Michael Leiter's boss is rushing to his defense. Leiter, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, is under fire for going on a six-day ski vacation right after the underwear bomber attempted to blow up the plane over Detroit.

Deputy National Security Director John Brennan told the White House press corps that he signed off on Leiter's ski trip, and even encouraged him to go. Leiter is a divorced father, and he was celebrating his son's birthday on the trip.

"You deserve this vacation, you need to be with your son," said Brennan.

"Mike Leiter raised with me that he was in fact scheduled to go on leave to meet his son and he asked me whether or not he should cancel that trip. I asked Mike about whether or not he had a full compliment of folks and whether his deputies were going to be in place. Mike said he did, so I was the one who told him he should go out there."

But the debate over Leiter's trip rages on. "That's Snow Excuse," reads today's New York Daily News.

Leiter is a former navy pilot who attended Harvard law school . He became the director of the National Counterterrorism Center in 2007.
