Bachmann Staff Accused of Unnecessary Roughness

Airdate: 08/19/2011

It was another tense moment between a newsman and Michele Bachmann's campaign-trail staffers.

A Fox News reporter took offense at the way Bachmann's security staff treated him. The showdown happened at a campaign event in Iowa.

"Do not put your hands on me! Don't ever do it again," said the reporter to the security staff.

After posing for a photo, Bachmann was hustled by her staff to a waiting bus. Right after, the Fox News reporter complained about being mistreated.

According to the respected website politico.com, which posted video of the incident online, physical confrontations between reporters and Bachmann staffers are becoming, "one staple of a Michele Bachmann campaign event."

Politico says it's "unnecessary roughness" by what it calls "Bachmann's bouncers."

James Hohmann of politico.com told INSIDE EDITION, "Michele Bachmann is following the route of a celebrity campaign and as a result, her security team is aggressive about keeping reporters away."

The latest incident comes just after ABC News Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross says he was manhandled when he tried to ask Bachmann about her migraines at another campaign appearance.

Ross said on The View, "I attempted to ask her that question, 'Have you missed any congressional votes because of these migraines?' And the staff came up and pushed me away."

And CNN correspondent Don Lemon also complained after a shoving match at a Michele Bachmann event.

"Politico documented at least five instances of Bachmann's security team being aggressive with the media," said Hohmann.

In response, Bachmann's staff cited the shooting of Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords, telling INSIDE EDITION, "In light of the Gabrielle Giffords incident, our #1 priority is the safety and security of Congresswoman Bachmann."
