INSIDE EDITION speaks to Matt Epstein, who went about getting his dream job in a very unusual way.
It may be the wackiest way of landing a new job you'll ever hear about.
24-year-old Matt Epstein was out of work and kind of desperate.
"I started passing out resumes. I did the traditional things that people normally do to get a job. But I couldn't even get a call back to tell me no," Epstein says.
He wanted to work for Google, in the marketing department. But he couldn't get his foot in the door, so to get their attention he put on a fake mustache, set up his camera, and made a video. He even took his pants off!
In the video, Epstein does a goofy push-up and even gets a pedicure! But the video ends on a serious note:
"What I'm asking for is one phone call and fifteen minutes of your time," he said.
Epstein's video went viral and just two days later, Google called!
"I was flabbergasted. I couldn't even believe it was them," he says.
And that's not all—he got also calls from Microsoft, Amazon, and several other companies.
In the end, he got a great job at an internet startup in San Francisco called SigFig, and it was all thanks to his wacky video.
"In this economy, in this job market a paper resume will not cut it. You absolutely have to stand out. This video is a perfect example of that. You have to start thinking creatively. How can [you] get noticed? Instead of waiting for other people to find [you], how can [you] go out and find that," says Tory Johnson, CEO of Women for Hire.
"I was so proud of it. I loved doing it and I think if people approached job applications as passionate projects they would probably see much different results," he says.
Epstein says he actually got 80 job interviews with his video.
