Conan O'Brien Leaves The Tonight Show

Conan O'Brien announced today that he will not host The Tonight Show in its new time slot. INSIDE EDITION has the latest details.

Conan O'Brien has told NBC he will not host The Tonight Show at 12:05 a.m.

Under a headline "Conan to NBC: Drop Dead", Daily Variety released a statement from Conan that said,

"People of Earth: I sincerely believe that delaying The Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. The Tonight Show at 12:05 a.m. simply isn't The Tonight Show."

O'Brien and Leno have made their feelings known about the changes in their monologues.

Leno said on his show, "NBC said they wanted drama at 10 p.m., now they got it!" He continued the zingers with, "I take pride in one thing...I leave NBC prime-time just how I found it, a complete disaster!"

Conan O'Brien said on The Tonight Show, "There was a 6.5 earthquake in California. It was so powerful it knocked Jay Leno's show from 10:00 to 11:35."

O'Brien continued the laughs with, "I've got a lot of options. I'll share some of them with you right now.

I could go to ABC and star in a male redhead version of Cougartown called Red Wolf Village. I could leave television altogether and work in a classier business, like hardcore porn."

And over on CBS, David Letterman got the last laugh with, "Once again, I did not get The Tonight Show!"
