Anderson Cooper Publicly Announces He's Gay

Sorry ladies, Anderson Cooper is off the market—he's gay.

The handsome white-haired CNN anchor came out in an email to the Daily Beast website.

Cooper wrote: "The fact is, I'm gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn't be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud."

The 45-year-old Cooper says he kept his sexuality private "for professional reasons" but recent instances of gay bullying made him believe there is value in coming out.

TV Guide Business Editor Steve Battaglio told INSIDE EDITION, "It's very significant for someone like Anderson Cooper to come out as a gay man. He is an iconic TV personality."

Cooper says he is in a romantic relationship with someone, but doesn't say who. Many reports have linked Cooper to Benjamin Maisani, the owner of a gay bar in New York.

All Cooper would say is, "I am blessed far beyond having a great career. I love, and I am loved."

Rumors concerning Cooper's sexuality have been circulating for years. Cooper, who is the son of famed fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt, decided to formally come out in the email he sent to his longtime friend, columnist Andrew Sullivan, who is also gay.

Cooper concludes in his email, "I still consider myself a reserved person and I hope this doesn't mean an end to a small amount of personal space."
