Robin Roberts Prepares For Life-Saving Procedure

An emotional message from Robin Roberts on a momentous day in her life.

"I feel the love," Roberts said in a video message from the hospital.

Today, Roberts undergoes a life-saving bone marrow transplant. She's calling it her new birthday.

Speaking from her hospital bed, the Good Morning America host appeared frail and close to tears as she thanked well-wishers for their messages of support.

"This journey is as much about the mind as it is the body. Your thoughts are so powerful. You've got to change the way you think in order to change the way you feel," Roberts said.

Roberts has undergone 8 days of intensive chemotherapy to prepare her for the transplant. Her oncologist, Dr. Gail Roboz, described what she's going through.

"Robin looks great. She's a powerhouse, but she feels crummy. Her mouth hurts, she has a headache that won't quit, nothing tastes right, it's hard for her to get up and move around. Medically speaking everything is going great. She's a trooper. She's fighting through," said Dr. Roboz.

Robin's colleagues at Good Morning America wished her well, as do all of us here at INSIDE EDITION.

"I feel the love, and I thank you for it," said Roberts.
