Golfer Goes From Panic Attack To PGA Champion
Pro golfer, Charlie Beljan was loaded into an ambulance in the midst of a panic attack. INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney spoke to Beljen about the incident.
"What did you think was happening to you?" McInerney asked.
"To be honest, I felt like I was getting ready to have a heart attack," he replied.
But here's the kicker—despite the attack that literally had Beljan on his knees and flat on his back, he won the first major tournament of his life.
Beljan is a true profile in courage. You may not believe what he went through to win this PGA event in Buena Vista, Florida.
"I was honestly fighting for my life, its how it honestly felt. My chest was real tight, I had a tough time catching my breath," Beljan said.
Any idea what may have caused the panic attacks?" asked.
"I don't know if there really is a trigger. We need to figure out what the problem is," he said.
When he felt stressed on the course, medical personnel monitored his pulse and somehow, he kept hitting those winning shots.
In the end, victory was his.
