Big Names Contribute to Gun Control PSA

Some of the nation's biggest celebrities are calling for stricter gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary school massacre.

Cameron Diaz, Beyoncé, Jamie Foxx, and Mad Men's Jon Hamm are participating in the video.

But now, they're coming under fire, being called "hypocrites." In a controversial YouTube video, the stars are being mocked because they've all appeared in violent movies and TV shows. The mocking video intercuts scenes of mayhem alongside their anti-gun declarations.

Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity showed the parody on his show Wednesay night, saying, "This time, they're not getting away with the hypocrisy, as a gun rights group is mocking the celebrity message in a new video."

But Bill O'Reilly said he doesn't think the celebrities are doing anything hypocritical.

"You can have material, and you can put it on the screen or in a play, and that doesn't mean that your personal beliefs are reflected by it," said O'Reilly.

Steve Barton is a survivor of the Batman movie massacre in Aurora, Colorado. He's now a spokeman for Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and the make of the original ad, and he's defending the celebrities.

Barton said, "They're just mothers. They're fathers. They're friends, neighbors, sons, just like the rest of us. This project came about organically. They came together because they're concerned about this just like the rest of America is."

The controversy over the gun control ad comes as little survivors of the Sandy Hook massacre made a heartbreaking return to class in a brand new school.

An empty middle school in the neighboring town of Monroe, Connecticut, has been transformed and even renamed Sandy Hook Elementary to make it comforting for the 500 kids who experienced that unimaginable tragedy last month.

Yellow school buses carried the children to their first day of school, surrounded by a heavy police presence.

A picture taken at the school shows two smiling students waving through the bus window.

All along the way, neighbors posted signs welcoming the children to what is surely the safest school in America.
