Restaurant Asks Mother And Messy Kids To Leave

One mother is outraged after she was told to leave a restaurant because her young children dropped too many crumbs on the floor. INSIDE EDITION has the story.

One mom is furious that she was told to leave a cafe north of Seattle. Why? All because her one-year-old and three-year-old dropped too many crumbs on the floor.

Kellea Poore says she did leave, but the confrontation didn't end there.

She said, "The woman came up and she basically told us that they had just spent $50 cleaning the carpets and she didn't appreciate us making such a mess, and that next time if we decided to come in, not to bring our kids."

Kellea Poore said she did leave, but the confrontation did not end there.

Rainy MacDuff, the owner of Rainy Days Cafe later posted a photo of the crumbs under the table on Facebook with a snarky message: "Like to take a moment to thank our customers with small children whose kids don't make a mess. A couple of ladies came in today and this is the mess their children made."

MacDuff said, "We love kids. It's not a matter of not liking kids. Again, it's about exercising my right to refuse service to anybody."

It turns out Poore is a military mom. She said her husband is deployed and she has no choice but to take her children with her everywhere she goes.

The backlash online against the cafe was swift.

“Show me a child that doesn't make crumbs. Absolutely absurd,” said one comment.

The cafe owner later apologized on Facebook, and took the photo down: “Good Morning Friends, Rainy here. I want to apologize for posting that picture. It was not right to do that and I am deeply sorry for any embarrassment it might have caused anyone.”

Poore said, "It's a half apology. Because it's not apologizing for her behavior in the store, and that was the most humiliating part."
