White House Security Official Identified As Sending Insulting Tweets
For years, Washington insiders have followed a Twitter feed called @natsecwonk. The author had some very edgy things to say about the president.
"Obama in three words: his blank ____ staff" went one tweet.
"When will someone do us the favor of getting rid of Sarah Palin and the rest of her white trash family? What utter useless garbage," said another.
Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner was another target, as the author was asked what his long-suffering wife Huma sees in him: "Was Huma Abedin wearing beer goggles the night she met Anthony Weiner?"
Now, the Twitter author has been identified, and he turns out to be a top White House national security advisor named Jofi Joseph. Joseph has been fired and is now expressing regret.
"I bear complete responsibility for this affair and I sincerely apologize to everyone I insulted," stated Joseph.
The Twitter mole's tweets were eagerly followed by many of Washington's top insiders and journalists.
Good Morning America's George Stephanopolus told INSIDE EDITION, "To lead that kind of—I guess, a double life. That's the only word for it—one virtual, one real. And to put the real career at risk for some tweets is just mind-boggling."
CBS This Morning's Norah O'Donnell told INSIDE EDITION, "This is new. This has never happened before—that someone inside the White House used a fake Twitter account to criticize the people who they work with on a daily basis."
