Police have just released interview tapes of the college co-ed who accused Super Bowl hero Ben Roethlisberger of raping her. In the interview, the young woman paints a disturbing picture of a cold-blooded sexual attack.
"The whole time I said, 'No we don't really need to do this, this isn't okay. We shouldn't be doing this,' " she told police.
Authorities in Georgia released the video, blurring the face of the quarterback's accuser. Roethlisberger's lawyer has denied that he did anything wrong. But for the first time the world is hearing her version of events, in her own voice. She says that she and her sorority sisters were inside a nightclub when they first spotted the football star.
"My friends were like, 'Oh my Gosh, that's Ben Roethlisberger!' So we're like, 'Oh cool.' So we took pictures with him. He seemed really like nice at first."
She says the quarterback offered to buy herself and her friends drinks.
"We were taking shots and then his, one of his bodyguards came and like, like didn't grab my arm but like, like was like, 'Hey come here,' " she told police.
She says Roethlisberger's bodyguard, an off-duty Pennsylvania state police trooper, led her to a back hallway in the club and placed her on a stool.
"I don't even know why I went. That was stupid," she said.
She says when the bodyguard left, Roethlisberger himself appeared and exposed himself to her.
"And I was like, 'No this is not right.' Like, 'I don't agree with this.' I got up and I like went to the first door that I saw, which happened to be a bathroom and he like followed me in and shut the door. That's when he proceeded to have sex with me."
In another part of her interview, she says that she didn't try to fight off Roethlisberger because he had a hair-trigger temper: "I figured it wouldn't help anything. I didn't want...him to hurt me any more than he was going to."
While there wasn't enough evidence to charge Roethlisberger, NFL officials suspended him for four to six games.
