Barbara Winfrey fought back tears as she watched her possessions being loaded onto a truck.
She told INSIDE EDITION, “This is all I have is furniture. I don't have anything else. I don't have a home.”
Barbara was married to Oprah Winfrey's dad, Vernon, for 13 years. Their wedding gift from Oprah was a million dollar house in a lovely suburb of Nashville. But after Barbara and Vernon’s bitter divorce last year, Oprah served Barbara with an eviction notice.
Barbara said, “I have to be out by midnight. I will have everything out by midnight.”
INSIDE EDITION was there on moving day as Barbara packed up everything she owns. It was a mammoth task. The five bedroom house is filled with stuff. A gift from Oprah went right in the trash.
Barbara said she couldn't afford to hire a moving company. The men who hauled her furniture are her friends. She rented a U-Haul truck and a buddy loaned her his pick-up and a rusty red trailer.
There are reminders of Oprah everywhere, a chair from the guest room Oprah stayed in and luggage from a trip they took together.
Barbara says she's hurt and confused by Oprah's decision to evict her, saying, “It doesn't make sense when someone has so much money and so much power. It's just hard.”
The retired school principal's grand piano is one of the last treasured possessions that was hauled away.
As Barbara bid a final farewell to her home of 14 years, she said she's looking forward to the next chapter in her life and severing all ties with Oprah, saying, “My next move will be to get a place where I can call mine and I don't have to worry about someone putting me out.”
