Rescue or Dognapping? FedEx Driver Takes Off With Two Puppies
This FedEx driver isn't dropping off a package, he's grabbbing two puppies and they don't belong to him.
Erica Correa owns the two adorable French Bulldog puppies, Sheila, the black one, and Bruno, the black-and-white little guy.
"I said, 'I have video footage of him picking up my puppies and putting them in the FedEx truck," said Erica.
She says when she realized they were missing from her backyard, she scoured her neighborhood near Houston for nearly two hours.
When Erica came back home and checked her surveillance video she saw her two dogs had escaped from the backyard and were in the street as the FedEx driver pulled up. He bent down and pet the two puppies. Then he picked up Sheila and took her to his truck. Then the driver turned his attention to Bruno. Sure enough, sweet-natured Bruno was totally cooperative. But suddenly, Sheila escaped.
A second surveillance camera showed her cowering at the door of her house as the FedEx guy approached. He scratched her back to reassure her, and then the driver picked her up. Then he drove off with Sheila and Bruno.
Erica couldn't believe it when she saw the video.
Fortunately, this tale has a happy ending.
We're pleased to report that Sheila and Bruno are back home with Erica, her husband Armando and her children.
Erica says the dogs were dropped off at a local veterinarian's office.
"The kids were happy," said Erica.
Armando said, "We all slept in the same bed."
It's unclear if the FedEx driver's intent was to take the dogs or just to get them off the street.
FedEx told INSIDE EDITION, "We are taking this incident very seriously and continue to work closely with authorities investigating this matter. Pending the completion of this investigation, the driver will not be providing service on behalf of FedEx ground."
Hey, maybe the FedEx guy thought the two dogs were a package deal.
