INSIDE EDITION was awarded the Joseph D. Ryle Award for Excellence in Writing on the Problems of the Elderly by the National Press Club.
It was a big night for Inside Edition at the 38th Annual National Press Club Journalism Awards in Washington D.C., where the program was honored with the Joseph D. Ryle Award for Excellence in Writing on the Problems of the Elderly.
The award was given for an INSIDE EDITION hidden camera investigation that captured some agents for Bankers Life and Casualty, a prominent 100-year-old insurance giant, training new recruits how to take advantage of the elderly.
In announcing the award, Press Club President Mark Hamrick said, "This was a first-rate investigation of a potential financial threat to millions of people on Medicare."
When the report aired last year, it caught the attention of the U.S. Senate Committee on Aging, which launched an investigation into the company's practices based on the undercover findings.
"We are extremely proud that our reporting prompted a significant government investigation and ultimately helped protect some of the nation's most vulnerable consumers," said INSIDE EDITION Executive Producer Charles Lachman.

This is the second time INSIDE EDITION has won a National Press Club Award for investigative reporting.
