Man Saved From Heroin Overdose by Deputies, Then Wants to Bomb Them 2 Weeks Later: Authorities

Christopher Langer had a stockpile of potentially explosive chemicals, police said.

A Florida man who "wanted to take revenge against the system" was arrested after authorities found a stockpile of explosive chemicals in the home he shared with his parents, authorities said.

Christopher Langer, 31, had recently been saved from a heroin overdose by Volusia County Sheriff's deputies, who administered Narcan after they were called to the DeBary home by his parents, cops said.

"Two weeks ago we saved your g****** life," an angry Sheriff Mike Chitwood told reporters Sunday evening. "And now we're here two weeks later, you're talking about how you want to blow us all up."

In the latest call, Langer's father phoned 911 to report his son was drunk, "out of control," and overturning furniture, according to a recording of the call.

Inside the home, deputies found more than 200 containers of explosive chemicals, a hand grenade and blasting devices, the sheriff said.

They also found a booby-trapped SpongeBob SquarePants lunchbox, Chitwood said.

"That domestic violence call probably saved us from making national and international news," the sheriff told Orlando's News6. "He has all the components in there to make a weapon of mass destruction."

Deputies also found bomb-making leaflets and chemicals he had purchased online. Several of the bottles found in his room were later determined to be full of urine, Chitwood said. "If I was a roach, I wouldn't live in that room. That's how despicable and dirty and feces- and urine-filled that room is," he said.

"The rest of the house is in pretty good shape," he said.

The son has been hospitalized four times for psychiatric evaluations, the sheriff said. His parents said he is a heroin addict and Langer told deputies he was "anti-government" and "wanted to take revenge against the system," Chitwood said. His plan was to hurt first responders, the sheriff added.

Langer has been charged with making and possessing an explosive device. He is being held without bail and has not entered a plea.
