Mike Posner Is Learning to Walk Again After Rattlesnake Bite

Even while in pain from his hospital bed, Mike Posner is still inspiring.

Even while in pain from his hospital bed after being bitten by a rattlesnake, Mike Posner is still inspiring.

"Maybe all my listeners can have hope too. I become who I am from all the s*** I go through. Yea. Keep going," Posner said in a video he posted on Instagram Sunday.

The Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter said he was bitten by a rattlesnake in Colorado three days ago and had to be airlifted to a local hospital.

“I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for 8 more when I got bit by a baby rattlesnake! ? That venom is no joke! I got to the hospital and got the anti-venom in time,” Posner wrote on Instagram.

Now, after taking about 60,000 steps a day, the 31-year-old is learning to walk again.

“I’m on my way back. Gonna rebuild with patience and equanimity,” Posner wrote on Instagram.

It all happened during his Walk Across America. He started in New Jersey, with the goal to hike across the country on foot and end in California.

The mission is to leave each town he and his team visit a little better than it was when they arrived.

"My friend told me, ‘It was like you're giving up a year of your life to do this.’ I said it was like I'm taking one back," Posner told "CBS This Morning."

He said he will do so through listening intentionally to his fans and by performing free pop-up shows he announces on social media.

Even though this is a setback, Posner said there's no way he's going to stop his journey until both of his feet are planted on Venice Beach.

In the meantime, Posner is maintaining a positive attitude. Doctors say he won't be able to walk for weeks, but the encouragement he's getting from his peers might be helping renew the pep in his step.
