Nearly 1,500 Lightning Pulses Electrify California Night Skies Over Just 5 Minutes

The storm wreaked havoc at Los Angeles International Airport.

A spectacular light show electrified the night skies over Southern California Tuesday night. 

The National Weather Service said that nearly 1,500 pulses of lightning struck in just five minutes.

The weather service also gave tips on what to do in a strong lightning storm. 

Amazing photos taken by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department reveal the electrical light show in the sky over the historic Stearns Wharf.

The incredible display caused havoc at Los Angeles International Airport for inbound and outbound flights.

The storm has residents bracing for flooding and mudslides in areas that were the scene of last year's deadly mudslides in Montecito.

Many took to social media to showcase the lightning crashing around them.
