Hayden Panettiere Calls 911 on Herself

Airdate: 1/23/2009

Heroes star Hayden Panettiere called 911 following a confrontation at a New York nightspot.

The 19-year-old star had come to the NV Lounge, a night club in Suffern, New York, an hour outside Manhattan. She allegedly slipped in through a private side entrance to meet up with friends.

John Reznik, the owner of the club, told INSIDE EDITION Panettiere approached the main bar and ordered a drink. The bartender asked for ID and seeing she was under 21 confiscated her license. Then, she and her friends were escorted out of the bar.

According to the owner, Panettiere was very frustrated and annoyed with the situation. He says they explained to the actress that the only way she would be able to get the ID back would be through the local authorities.

The teen phoned local police. INSIDE EDITION has an exclusive first listen to her call to 911.

911 Operator: What's your name?
Panettiere: Hayden. I went into a bar and I showed them my ID. They let me in and um...he took my ID and he won't give it back.
911 Operator: What bar is it?
Panettiere: NV.
911 Operator: NV?
Panettiere: Yeah
911 Operator: Okay, and they took your ID and they're not going to give it back to you?
Panettiere: Yeah, and I need to get on a plane in a couple of days and I really need my ID back…I live in California.
911 Operator: Okay, we have officers on the way.
Panettiere: Thank you very much.

The NV Lounge owner says the actress seemed upset when talking to police. "She was crying," Reznik says.

Panettiere is one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood. She's also admired for her social activism; she famously broke down in Japan trying to prevent the slaughter of dolphins.

As for the nightclub incident, Hayden Panettiere, who grew up in the area before moving to Hollywood, told police she did not try to buy a drink at the club. Officials asked the club owner to return the star's driver's license, and he did.

When INSIDE EDITION asked Reznik if the Hollywood star would be allowed to come back, he said, "She is welcome to have dinner, but to party you have to be over 21."
